SYNPO is the holder of the project "Ecological recycling of biopolymers", which is co-financed by Technologická agentura ČR (project number SS06020282).
A primary aim of the project is design of a technologically feasible process of chemical recycling of biopolymers. Biopolymers appear to be an ecologically viable alternative to polymers produced from fossil resources if they are produced from secondary products of agricultural production. However, their mechanical recycling and subsequent biodegradation is technically highly problematic. Chemical recycling leading to the production of bio-solvents enables the post-consumer processing of waste biopolymers in a circular economy system.
