International Conference Polymer Composites 2025
On May 27 and 28, the International Conference Polymer Composites 2025 was held under the auspices of the Association for Technical Support and Promotion of Polymer Composites. Alexandre Perrot presented the results achieved within the project New Generation Sandwich Constructions for Increasing the Safety of Critical Infrastructure Objects (FW03010141, supported by TAČR) in the form of a lecture "Composite Sandwich Panels for High Ballistic Resistance". The aim of the project was to implement a high-performance sandwich structure providing different levels of ballistic protection in practice and thus increase the resilience of the existing infrastructure and ensure the protection of life and health of people moving around it. An increase in the resistance can be achieved by means of additional layers, which are applied directly to the existing structure or by using whole sandwich structures of a new generation, consisting of the most modern materials developed in the field of protective structures. The aim of the project is, in addition to providing ballistic resistance, also to absolutely suppress any spalling or scabbing from the front or back side of the sandwich panel and thus achieve a 100% stopping effect with 0% secondary fragments.
